Faculty Development Program on Teachers’ Challenges and Student Guidance

A Faculty Development Program on Teachers’ Challenges and Student Guidance was conducted on 22 May 2026 at St. Francis de Sales College, Tamaka, Kolar, in the College Multimedia Hall. The session focused on the multifaceted difficulties educators face and the support systems required to strengthen the quality of education.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Rajinikanth S., Chief Coordinating Officer, SFS Institutions, South West Province. He outlined academic, psychological, emotional, behavioral, social, technological, and lifestyle-related challenges affecting teachers today. To address these, he proposed practical strategies such as mentorship and counselling sessions, interactive methods including case studies, peer-to-peer learning, group projects, and enhanced teacher collaboration. He further stressed the importance of healthy routines and work-life balance for educators.

Career coaching for students emerged as a key theme. The discussion highlighted its role in improving student satisfaction and helping learners identify their goals, aspirations, strengths, and opportunities.

Rev. Fr. Benny, MSFS, Councillor incharge of Education South west india Province. addressed the gathering on the importance of awareness in education. He urged educators to stay updated, empathetic, and responsive to changing student needs.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Rev. Fr. Joseph Thoppil, Principal, SFS College, Tamaka, Kolar. He also delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, faculty, and organizers.

The FDP concluded with a strong emphasis on adopting a more supportive, interactive, and goal-oriented approach in teaching and student guidance to create a holistic learning environment.
